  • Masters Premium (over 40) — $1,000 (minimum 4 starters) 
  • Seniors Premium (over 50) -$500 (minimum 4 starters)
  • Both male and female, top 7 prize money requires 25 starters each.
  • All women over 50 and men over 60 (Tortoises and Hares) who are official finishers earn free entry into the 2027 race.

The small print…
To avoid 30% withholding on your prize money, U.S. and Resident Foreign Athletes must provide a form W‐9 with valid social security number. A Form 1099 will be issued at year end to all athletes receiving compensation of $600 or more in a given year. All athletes who are citizens of foreign countries, also known as non‐resident athletes (NRAs) will be subject to 30% withholding of the total prize money as required by the IRS. This amount will be credited toward any US taxes owed at year end. If a NRA is interested in trying to lower the withholding rate, they may apply for a Central Withholding Agreement at least 45 days prior to event.

Team Challenge & Preem

In addition to the $5,000 in the Run, Rabbit, Run Team Challenge, win an additional $1,000 Preem by being the first to top the gondola! Rules below!

Rules for the Team Challenge*:

  • A team consist of one woman and one man.
  • Fastest combined times win! Both runners must finish within the allowed time!
  • Both team members must run as Hares in our 100 mile race and follow all Hare rules.
  • You must provide us with your team names no later than September 13, 2026 (you can switch or change until then).
  • Winning team receives $5,000 ($2,500 per runner). Second place team $2,500. Third place team $1,000. All entrants are still eligible for individual prize money!

* Must be a minimum of five teams entered in the Team Challenge.

Rules for the $1,000 Guaranteed Preem: 

  • Runners must run as Hares.
  • You must finish within the official time limit.
  • First male runner and first female runner to the top of the gondola wins $1,000!
  • Should the first male or female runner to the top of the gondola NOT finish within the official time limit, the preem will go to the next runner to the top of the gondola who finishes within the time limit.

HARVEY HANDICAPS THE 2026 HARES – MEN

  1. Ryan Sullivan, 35, Colorado – Fourth here last year and figures to improve, and good last out off a layoff at Black Canyon and then Sonoma win means training well and ready to roll. Field looking pretty tough, but going out on a limb with this guy.
  2. Dave Stevens, 43, Canada – Hey, guy’s a two time winner here so can’t fault those who think he’s up for the hat trick, but at 43 facing two other prior winners he’ll have to show me he still has what it takes; still, Canadians have rocked here and he’s always focussed on this. One of the best. Would obviously be no surprise.
  3. Jim Rebenack, 41, Colorado – Another former winner here, with a second as well; guy’s always flown beneath the radar as he’s not a social media guy, all he does is run, run, run, but when going good he’s certainly one of the best; been quiet of late but suspect he’s got plenty in the tank. One of the ones in a so far very contentious field.
  4. Jesse Rich, 36, Utah – Guy surprised everyone including maybe himself with out of the clouds win here last year, but hey, that was a strangely run race in awful, awful conditions that just may have suited him, so he’ll likely be doing the rain and snow dance. Anyway, he’d run well here before, so maybe it wasn’t a one off. Defending champ looking to prove that last year was no fluke. Teams up with Hannah Allgood in the Team Challenge.
  5. Jon Harrison, 36, Colorado – Not sure what to make of this guy, as he ran second here last year again in those awful conditions that may just have suited; another looking to show that last year was no fluke. Definitely moves up if the conditions are poor.  Teams with Cecilia Williams in the Team Challenge.
  6. Mark Hammond, 40, Utah – Guy’s a six time finisher, including three second place finishes so knows the course better than anyone; not sure his recent efforts put him up there, so we may be overreaching, but an absolute threat for the win if he runs ro prior fom. Respect chances.
  7. Oliver Biesner, 22, Ohio – Kid’s just 22 but he’s only lost once, and that was a second place. Gotta love that Daytona 100 in thirteen plus, but this is a whole different ballgame. He’s in deep, but talent may be there, the experience maybe not.
  8. John Herrick, 35, Colorado – He’s won at High Lonesome and San Juan Solstice, was seventh here last year; guy might just be figuring this game out, maybe last year made him loaded for bear. Rates a chance.
  9. William Hubert, 29, Hawaii – Second at Pine to Palm, fourth at HURT, guys has the Distance of Truth figured out, and he’s just 29. Not without a chance.
  10. Josh Griffen, 25, Utah – Second last year at Wasatch, though he’s never raced outside Utah. Hard to get a read on this guy. 

HARVEY HANDICAPS THE 2026 HARES – WOMEN

  1. Hannah Allgood, 34, Colorado – Gotta believe she’s better than her tenth at Western States, anyway she ran sub 17, 14 plus at Javelina (just behind last years winner), and just took down the Lake Sonoma after Moab 55k, though not sure who was behind her in that, plus she’s from Colorado so altitude and climbing should be no problem. She’s at her prime and one of the world’s best and probably getting better; the pick in what figures to be a deep field. Teams with Jesse Rich in the Team Challenge.
  2. Jennie Yeaman, 34, Colorado – Hard to look past her fourth place finish last year in those awful, awful conditions, but it was her first try at Distance of Truth and her time was stellar, and another who only figures to improve.  Win at Silver States sets her up well. Suspect she’ll be focussed on this. Contender for all the marbles.
  3. Nicole Laughton, 39, Oklahoma – Flatlander has been 4th here and was last year’s Big Horn winner as well so no stranger to climbing and altitude. Another One of the Ones in what figures to be a very tough field. Teams with Joel Dutton in the Team Challenge.
  4. Sarah Humble, 25, Utah – Another Western States runner, though she was twelfth, still, she’s just 25 and so not even at her prime; she already has a win at the Bear, though faces much tougher here. Run, Rabbit, Run has been the coming out party for some of the world’s best and she might be next. Dark horse pick to win it all.
  5. Zoe Rom, 32, Colorado – She has a 5th and a 7th here so knows the course well, and she’s got a 2nd at Leadville as well; seemingly never throws in a bad one, and at 32 there’s still room for improvement. Merits much respect. Might surprise.
  6. Cecilia Williams, 30, Colorado – Fourth at High Lonesome, 5th at Never Summer, but thinking at 30 she’s still got plenty of upside. Could be any sort. Teams with Jon Harrison in the Team Challenge.
  7. Lauren Puretz, 43, Colorado – Fourteenth at Western though love that 14 plus at Javelina, meaning she has wheels. Rates a punchers chance.
  8. Kylee Drugan-Eppich, 34, Colorado – Been quiet the last few years, but heck, she’s won the Zion 100 so she’s no stranger to the Distance of Truth. Might surprise.
  9. Brianna Grigsby, 39, Arizona – Gal loves to race, as she seems to run one every month but she’s been lights out lately, with 6 wins, 2 seconds and a third in her last nine races, with more to come. She’s won the San Diego 100 and ran twelfth here, in 2023. Mixed signals but she’s race tough. 
  10. Codie Muthig, 28, Utah – Third at The Bear last year but now faces tougher; at 28 gal figures to improve and love that recent tune up win at River of No Return. Have a funny feeling about this one.

HARVEY HANDICAPS THE 2026 50 MILE – MEN

  1. Scott Schrader, 41, Colorado – Been in the exacta in last 6 races, which is way ahead of the rest of this field. At this early date seems like it’s his to lose.

  2. Ryan McAvoy, 28, Colorado – Has run some decent ones, and so far field is coming up soft, and heck he’s just 28. Rates a definite chance.

  3. Radu Diaconu, 43, Colorado – Guy once ran some darn good ones, but has been quiet of late. Rates a good chance if returns to prior form.

  4. Jeff Albert 43, Colorado  – Ran our 100 here once before, so now stepping down to shorter, and maybe this distance suits him better. Ninth at lats year’s Blue Sky may be good enough for him to contend. 

  5. Frank Holms, 56, Colorado – Gotta root for the senior, who is not without a chance. Experience matters.  

HARVEY HANDICAPS THE 2026 50 MILE – WOMEN

  1. Brier Youngfleish, 27, Colorado – Well traveled runner with a win at Tushar’s and a 7th at Javelina 100 looks to be the class of the field. The pick.
  2. Holly Adams, 48, Georgia – Stop east coast runners boasts wins at Cruel Jewel. Top contender if she can handle the altitude.
  3. Andrea McArdle, 33, New Mexico – She’s run some big ones in Arizona and New Mexico. Rates a definite chance.
  4. Pearson Alspach, 39, Colorado – She’s been strictly a local runner and has sparkled in those; huge edge since she’s running in her back yard, but faces tougher here.
  5. Tracie Rupert, 45, Colorado – She’s been here before and that will help; Decent run at Never Summer means she can climb. Sixth here last year and figures to contend again.
